Signature Drinks: The Cocktail That Defines Your Love Story

Imagine this: your guests enter your wedding reception, greeted by the clinking of glasses, the laughter of loved ones, and a bar menu that reads like a love story. But not just any love story—your love story, told through signature drinks explicitly crafted for the two of you.

The right wedding drink isn’t just a beverage; it’s a celebration of your shared journey, quirks, and beautiful moments together.

Let’s dive into how signature drinks can be the perfect toast to your forever.

Defining the Concept

Signature drinks are custom cocktails that reflect your personality, love story, and overall wedding vibe.

It’s that one special drink (or maybe two) that carries your unique stamp, made for guests to remember your big day every time they take a sip.

Think of it as the liquid embodiment of your relationship—a sip of magic.

Why Choose Signature Drinks?

You could stick to the classics: martinis, mojitos, and margaritas. But why not go one step further and make your wedding drink something uniquely yours

Signature drinks add a personal touch to your wedding and give your guests a conversation starter.
We still remember Gurpreet Singh, the Groom, and Gurpreet Kaur, the bride from Punjab, a couple who first bonded over their love of whiskey sours.

Their signature drink, the “Preet Kiss,” mixed Buffalo Trace Bourbon with freshly squeezed lemon juice, a hint of lavender syrup, and a sprig of rosemary for garnish. It was equal parts nostalgic, romantic, and delicious.

The Secret to Crafting Your Signature Drink

1. Find Your Flavour Inspiration

The best signature drinks tell a story. What flavors remind you of your partner?

Was your first date at a tequila bar where you laughed over spicy margaritas?

Did you fall in love during a summer vacation that had you sipping piña coladas on a beach?

We met another couple from Gujarat. Barkha grew up loving strawberries, and Ravi had a thing for gin. Together, they created the “Berry in Love,” a gin-based cocktail with muddled strawberries, basil leaves, a splash of St-Germain elderflower liqueur, and Fever-Tree tonic water.
It was a sweet nod to their first vacation together in Italy, and their guests couldn’t stop raving about it.

2. Alcohol or No Alcohol? That Is the Question

No rule says signature drinks have to be boozy. If you or your partner prefer non-alcoholic options, that’s totally fine. In fact, crafting a sophisticated mocktail can be a lot of fun, and your non-drinking guests will thank you. Consider the “Summer Spark” a mocktail crafted for a couple who met at a wellness retreat.
The drink combined fresh cucumber juice, a touch of agave syrup, and a splash of soda water, served in a chilled glass with a lime twist. Not only did it look gorgeous, but it was also refreshing and vibrant—just like your love story.

A Story in Every Sip

Each ingredient in your wedding drink should be meaningful—like a metaphor in liquid form.

Think about flavors that represent your journey together. Spicy, sweet, tart, or herbal—every taste has its place in your love.

One of our favourite examples comes from a couple named Gaurav and Rakhi from Uttar Pradesh.
Their journey began with a coffee date, so they chose Kahlúa as a base for their signature drink, “The Midnight Brew.” They combined Kahlúa with Absolut Vanilla Vodka, a shot of cold brew coffee, and a dash of chocolate bitters. Served with a whipped cream topping, it was a caffeinated nod to their beginning.

Bringing Seasonal Elements

Seasonality is key when crafting a signature drink. For a fall wedding, you could use ingredients like coconut, apple cider, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

You might opt for passionfruit, lemonade, and fresh mint for summer.
Take a cue from Parineeti and Raghav’s wedding drink in India, The drink of choice at Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha’s wedding was a customized coconut served from Cococart, a custom coconut stall.

The coconuts were a tropical touch to the wedding, which took place in September 2023 at The Leela Palace in Udaipur.

Their wedding was all about cozy vibes, and this warm and spicy moktail set the perfect tone.

Play with Your Names or Moments

Naming your signature drink can be one of the most fun parts of the process. A great name can add humor, sentimentality, or mystery to your cocktail.

Try incorporating elements of your names or perhaps referencing a cute or funny memory.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas came up with “Mahe Milky Way” a cheeky reference to their dating days when Nick walked the way to the Desi Girl.

Their drink?  Simple yet too-good-to-miss cocktail with vodka, quaffine and Bailey’s liquor with some ice and wedding vibe.

Classic with a Twist

Sometimes, a simple twist on a classic name can work wonders. Think “Marry Me Mule” for a Moscow Mule variation or “Mint to Be Mojito” for a refreshing rum concoction. A bit of wordplay goes a long way in making your signature drink memorable.

Making It a Showstopper

The garnish is like the cherry on top—literally and figuratively. It adds that extra wow factor, elevating your drink from delicious to stunning.

Edible flowers, rosemary sprigs, dehydrated fruit slices, or even a custom cocktail stirrer with your initials can add the final touch.

One of our known  bride Nancy added a “cotton candy cloud” to her signature drink, “The Pink Dream,” a whimsical mix of Ketel One Vodka, cranberry juice, and elderflower tonic.

The cotton candy dissolved instantly upon pouring, creating an interactive experience for her guests.

Make It Visual

Don’t underestimate the power of presentation. Think about the glassware, colors, and overall look. Copper mugs, tiki glasses, martini glasses—the right vessel makes a difference.

For Lovely and Saurabh’s wedding, a cocktail team helped them serve “The Golden Hour” in coupe glasses dusted with edible gold flakes.

The cocktail itself was a sparkling blend of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Grand Marnier, and fresh grapefruit juice. It was the perfect embodiment of their classy yet adventurous style.

To Mix or Not to Mix

If you’re planning a more intimate wedding, you could DIY your signature drinks. This works especially well if your cocktail is easy to pre-batch.

Just be mindful—a complicated drink with five types of bitters might require some professional help.

For larger weddings, we always recommends hiring a mixologist. They can add flair to the process—shaking, stirring, and serving up drinks with style—so you don’t have to worry about anything more than clinking glasses with your love.

The Lasting Impression

Your signature drink doesn’t have to be limited to the wedding day. Why not turn it into a memorable wedding favor?

Mini bottles with a recipe card, or even a cute glass with your names and wedding date, will remind your guests of your special day long after it’s over.

Sunil and Ankia, Groom and Bride from Mumbai  sent their guests home with miniature mason jars filled with their “Peach Perfect” cocktail mix, which featured Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, peach puree, and lemon juice. It was a sweet farewell and a lovely way to keep their love story alive.

A Sip to Remember

The right signature drink is a conversation starter, a mood setter, and a piece of your love story in a glass. Weddings should be as personal as possible—and what better way than to serve a wedding drink that’s uniquely yours?

Your journey to finding the perfect signature drink might be a lot like your journey to finding each other: filled with experimentation, a few surprises, and, ultimately, a perfect blend of flavours.

Cheers to that!
